Friends of the Earth, I feel like I am one, yet can not post in the FOE news sections--WTF?
The headline says money alone will not stop deforestation and the GHGs it releases, and that we must tackle the root cause. Well, the root cause is overpopulation, and to tackle that means to massively reduce the population in rainforest areas. The population in general must go down significantly to reduce the demand for forest products and the products of the cleared land. Instead, we have the lowest spectrum of IQ breeding like there is an infinite Earth (Hispanics especially, but blacks too, and the lowest IQ of all races), also the religious nutcases doing the same(especially the kill cult moslems, the Catholics, the Mormons, the Evangelical Christians, and even Hindus) and the ones with inbred crowd tolerance(mainly the Asians, including those of Indonesia and India, along with some in other areas who have become used to city crowds). How do you reduce population? Education doesn't work (except with those of over 105 IQ). Throwing money at it only makes it worse. It seems that short of a limited nuclear war, or a global disease worse than the bubonic plague of the middle ages are the only ways left before Nature reduces population through mass starvation, lack of water, and other depletion/pollution effects, in a classic stimulated mammalian population die-off curve that humanity is following like the St. Mathew's Island deer herd. |

http://www.uaf.edu/snras/afes/pubs/bul/B81.pdf Using a generational scale, reindeer females start calving at 2 years. The 20 years to crash of the herd represents 10 generations. The human population, when adjusted for when human females start breeding, say 20 years per generation, there is a near perfect match of population curves. With the start of human geometric population rise in 1850(or slightly before) and the widespread use of fossil fuels to increase food supply, we would expect that the human population would crash by 2050. This also is near the time with most world oil depletion, much larger water depletion and soil depletion effects, and malevolent climate change effects well beyond historic, four triggers?. As with the herd on the island, mortality of the young fell with no predators, and with humans the development of fertilizers, deep wells, lower war fatalities and negative evolution, and medical methods and drugs/antibiotics that kept infant mortality low. During part of the time, the adult weights also went up like with many humans. The trigger to crash was a large snowstorm, but the crash would have occurred from lack of enough forage for the number of animals that year. In biology, situations on islands with predators and less food supply often end up with speciation to a dwarf species. In other circumstances speciation was to a species that could utilize food sources differently or better. Often, like with the St. Matthew Island reindeer herd, the species went extinct.

An item of clarification: in the first post, the facts come from 16 years of obituary studies, and the large amount of data and research, much aligned of the 1993 book "The Bell Curve". It also comes from 42 years of multi-disciplinary population research and related actual use, pollution, and depletion rates with regeneration rates. It included human psychology, of which human overcrowding and its effects were known, but more recently purposely hidden. Including the genetic changes, like the change from the crowd intolerance gene which kept populations exploring new areas and warring with each other to remain strong and in numbers at or below sustainable per region. The change to the crowd tolerance gene took multiple generations, and thus, affects those who have been overpopulated the longest. It is a very negative gene to have in that it allows extreme overshoot of population. It overpowers the intelligence to see ahead the consequences of overpopulation, except in those individuals of high intelligence and morals unfettered by religious or cultural dogma, and without the crowd tolerance inbred trait, or the trait is not too strong.
There is no racism, or bigotry involved. It is the statement of facts that are not always pleasant to people, especially in those groups doing the most over-breeding. The thing is, that it is the entire species average that is affecting the biosphere and causing the extreme deadly overpopulation. The amount of people not overbreeding is in the upper fringes of the bell curve, and they get taken down with the rest in the crash, for the most part.
