How can governments gain a greater momentum behind efforts helping the environment as opposed to hindering it?
I mean, are enough common people and businesses paying enough interest, or are they subject to the "out of sight - out of mind" syndrome, or "Err, I don't care, it won't affect me, not in my life time" mentality.
So, to the point, do you think that if people were reminded of some of the facts about the environment on a regular basis, that more people and more businesses would tend to do more about it?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

Deffo! That's what advertising is all about.
A nice large eco add campaign would absolutly change the way all of us think about our world.
The evidence for advertising is of course all around. Just as an example, the drink driving campaign have created a UK where drink-driving is definitly not cool for most people. Or the fact that santa is red, not because of some old myth, but because of coca cola.
I say bring it on. In fact, the government should provide free add slots for just such stuff.
Definately, not just aimed at the companies but the public. I know the majority of people are now recycling at least a little - but the amount of people who are just ignorant of basic energy saving is unbelievable. (This is not a plug at my business pls delete if inappropriate) the amount of people who turn their noses up at my recycled products and say things (i.e remanufactured cartridges) like "well I can get a brand new one for a pound more" Or the jokes about "well I gotta a pen that i have been using for a while does that mean I can sell it for more than I paid for it cos its recycled" Or the poeple who drive their kids to school when the school is within easy walking distance. I questioned somebody recently over this as we walk past her house on our way to school, we often see them leaving and get there before she does, I commented that it's quicker to walk because of all the traffic but she said that going in the car saved her hair getting wind swept!
And heres me thinking that was the fashionable look!
Think I best stop my ranting - could go on 4ever!
